Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna praised fire volunteers for their continued support during city fires at the 30th anniversary celebration of the Sta. Cruz Fire Rescue Volunteers.
Lacuna expressed gratitude for the volunteers’ dedication, citing their decades of service in protecting lives and property, often at personal risk.
“In every fire, every emergency, and every moment of need, they have demonstrated the true spirit of community cooperation,” Lacuna said.
“Their unity and teamwork have strengthened our community and served as an inspiration to many.”
Representative Joel Chua, who also attended the event, pledged ongoing support for the fire volunteers.
Both Lacuna and Chua acknowledged the volunteers’ crucial role in assisting the city during fire disasters.
Lacuna expressed hope for the growth of volunteer fire organizations, not only in Manila but also in neighboring cities and provinces.
She also urged Manila residents to practice fire prevention year-round, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing lives over property.
