PHLPost makes sending packages cheaper with new lower rates

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) is making it easier and more affordable for Filipinos to send mail and packages with the launch of promotional lower rates for domestic and international tracked and registered mail services, including its Express Mail Service. This move aims to give the public a cost-effective alternative to private courier services while strengthening PHLPost’s position in the market.

Postmaster General Luis D. Carlos emphasized that the initiative is part of the organization’s commitment to improving service accessibility for Filipinos. He noted that the reduced rates were made possible through improved governance and operational efficiency within the government-owned corporation.

“We are proud to share the benefits of our operational improvements with the public. This new promotion, which significantly reduced the rates of our domestic and international mail services, is part of our commitment to better serve our customers and contribute to Filipino communities' economic well-being,” Carlos said.

With the new rates, sending a domestic tracked item within the National Capital Region now costs only P25 for the first 50 grams, making it an affordable option for individuals and businesses alike. The service also provides confirmation of mailing and delivery dates, ensuring added security for senders.

For international mail services, PHLPost now offers some of the most competitive rates in the market. A 1.5 kg package bound for Japan costs P1,680, while sending the same package to Singapore is P1,254. The rate for Australia is P1,870, while sending to Canada costs P2,291. Those shipping to the United Kingdom will pay P1,823, while a package to the United States is priced at P2,250.

Meanwhile, international express mail services offer equally attractive rates. A package bound for Australia starts at P444.50 for the first 500 grams and P2,413 for one kilogram. For the United Kingdom, the rate begins at P513.50 for the first 500 grams and rises to P3,018 for one kilogram. Packages headed to the United States start at P631.50 for 500 grams and reach P2,182 for one kilogram. Those sending to Singapore will find rates beginning at P240 for 500 grams and P1,167 for one kilogram.

Carlos highlighted that many Filipinos have long struggled with rising courier costs, particularly from private services. “Now, with these new promo rates, we offer them a better choice — one that will enable them to fulfill their mailing needs at a fraction of the cost," he said.

The computation of the new rates is based on volumetric weight and varies depending on the delivery area. Rates may differ for more remote locations or highly populated cities, ensuring a fair pricing system for all customers.

While domestic ordinary mail rates remain subject to approval by the Department of Information and Communications Technology, PHLPost assures the public that affordability and efficiency remain top priorities.

With the introduction of these new rates, PHLPost expects more Filipinos to use its services for both local and international mailing needs. The agency remains committed to delivering reliable and cost-effective postal services, ensuring that every package is handled with care and efficiency.
