Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna is again warning the public about fake social media accounts impersonating her, urging residents to verify official sources to avoid scams.
In a post on her official Facebook page, “Dra. Honey Lacuna,” the mayor cautioned the public over the proliferation of fake Facebook accounts bearing her name.
“Beware of impersonation and ensure you’re following the right sources for accurate information,” Lacuna said.
She disclosed that an individual is pretending to be her, attempting to deceive people.
“Someone is impersonating me and using this opportunity to scam others. I am not Salvi Gatmaitan, I am Mayor Dra. Honey Lacuna-Pangan and this is my only Facebook account. Be careful of the intense heat and also of the impostors around you. Love you!” she wrote.
The mayor provided tips on how to identify fake accounts, advising netizens to check the Facebook URL, verify the account type, check the number of followers and to be always cautious of suspicious.
She added that the public should also cross-check with official government websites, adding that the latest fake account is reportedly asking for phone numbers and offering free mobile load.
