The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has successfully detonated the explosives that were loaded on the FA-50PH fighter jet that crashed in Bukidnon last week.

PAF spokesperson Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo said the controlled detonation was coordinated with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the local government units to ensure safety and minimize any potential risks.

“The controlled detonation of the aircraft parts and unexploded ordnance has been carried out safely. The surrounding communities, which are quite far from the site, were informed and a coordination with the DENR was also completed,” Castillo said.

A controlled detonation involves setting off explosives in a controlled environment to minimize damage and ensure public safety.

While Castillo did not disclose the number of explosives detonated for security reasons, she assured that the Explosive Ordnance Device team thoroughly assessed the situation.
