In celebration of International Women’s Month, Senator Cynthia Villar received an award at the International Women’s Assembly 2025 hosted by the YWCA Founder’s Federation of the Philippines, Inc. Recognized for her contributions to women’s empowerment, good governance, and food security, Villar was honored at the YWCA FFPI headquarters in Manila on 8 March 2025.
Villar, who has championed policies benefiting Filipino farmers, led the extension of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) through Republic Act 12078 in December 2024, ensuring long-term support for local rice producers.
In a December roundtable with DAILY TRIBUNE, Villar reflected on her dedication to farmers and the agricultural sector: “Most of my time in the Senate has been for them. I visit them personally. It’s not just about high-profile events — I go to them.”
Her advocacy has earned her an honorary doctorate in Agriculture from the University of the Philippines Los Baños, further cementing her legacy in agricultural reform and rural development.
Congratulations, Sen. Villar!
