President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. joined the nation in celebrating the achievements of women in society.

On Saturday, 8 March, the world marked International Women’s Day, a global observance recognizing the women's rights movement, particularly on issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and the fight against violence and abuse.

Marcos highlighted the resilience and strength required to be a woman, likening them to Inang Bayan (Motherland), calling them “dynamic and ever-evolving.”

“Many of the developments we witness today can be attributed to the innumerable contributions of women across generations who fought, struggled, and advocated for various noble causes,” he said.

He also emphasized the crucial role Filipino women have played in shaping the nation’s history.

“From the babaylans, katipuneras, and Filipina guerrillas of the past to the frontliners, professional trailblazers, and visionary leaders of today, our country has produced millions of empowered women who have shared their knowledge, talents, and even their lives for the sake of many,” he said.

“As we mark this special occasion, let us recognize the significance of women as an unshakable force that nurtures, perseveres, and redefines. Let us commit to supporting them in their endeavors to uplift the nation and the rest of the world,” he added.

Marcos also vowed to continue advocating for women’s rights and opposing anything that threatens their progress.

“We will never grow weary of retelling the stories of remarkable women so we can inspire a new generation of young girls to make their mark on society,” he said.
