9Works Theatrical raised the curtains on their new original musical Liwanag Sa Dilim tonight at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza. Featuring the music of Rico Blanco, it tells the story of Elesi, as he tries to unravel his past as he tries to move forward to his future.
The opening cast were Anthony Rosaldo as Elesi, as well as CJ Navato, and Nicole Omillo. In the audience were National Artist for Film, Ricky Lee, Apo Hiking Society’s Jim Paredes and Bobby Garovilllo (whose music was used in 9Works’ Musikal NApo Sila), Karylle, Franco Laurel, GMA artists Thea Astley, and more. Alternate cast Khalil Ramos, Alexa Ilacad,and Vien King were also there.
Rico Blanco himself caught the preview. He praised the cast and creative team for their work on the show when he was called onstage during curtain call.
