Aurora head coach Aniel "Master the Basics" Jiandani just scored his first win over ONIC PH, yet he stressed that their goals are more than just beating the defending champion.
Aurora, composed of Edward, Renejay, Demonkite, Domengkite, and Yue, scored their first-ever win against the M6 world champion on Week 1 Day 2 of MPL PH Season 15, securing a 2-0 record in their campaign.
And while it was a win that Master the Basics will take, he iterated that Aurora has more to do and accomplish this season.
"I am happy because finally we won one against ONIC. The goal is not to just beat ONIC but to be consistent in what we do. Be consistent on showing our strengths," he told DAILY TRIBUNE.
Last season, Aurora surpassed expectations when the newly formed team and MPL PH newcomer made it to the finals and pushed ONIC to its limit before losing via 3-4.
The runner-up finish was enough for Aurora to qualify for the M6 World Championship, only for their fans to suffer heartbreak as they failed to make it to the Playoffs.
Now more familiar with the team and his players' game style, Master the Basics says Aurora is ready to go all out in MPL Season 15.
"Unlike last season when we were a new team and we had to test a lot," he quipped.
"Now we know everyone's strength and capabilities, especially in the coaching staff and the players. We are going all in in all of our matches."
