Authorities reported that three Vietnamese nationals were arrested in Cavite province on suspicion of practicing medicine without licenses.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said Sunday that the suspects — identified as Julie Nguyen, Luna Pham and Ryan Truong — were arrested last 27 February at a beauty lounge in Imus City, Cavite.
They face charges of violating Republic Act 2382, also known as The Medical Act.
Investigations showed that the suspects presented themselves as doctors and performed various medical and cosmetic procedures, including stem cell therapy, hair regrowth treatments, body sculpting, and biostimulation collagen injections.
They allegedly conducted these procedures without the necessary medical licenses and permits to dispense medical products, operate a medical facility, or practice medicine in the Philippines.
A belated report from the CIDG indicated that the suspects were operating a beauty lounge, where they conducted the procedures.
During the arrest, authorities confiscated numerous boxes of assorted medicines, medical and cosmetic products, notebooks documenting medical procedures, prescription medications, and receipts issued to clients.
The CIDG said the suspects were performing derma-related procedures, which typically fall under the purview of licensed dermatologists or medical doctors.
“We encourage the public to report any illegal practice of medicine and other criminal activities in your localities and your CIDG will do the rest,” CIDG chief Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said in a statement.
