Sarah Discaya will continue to serve her fellow Pasigueños even if she doesn’t win the Pasig City mayoral race.

Her husband, Curlee Discaya, said his wife believes in the saying, “If it’s meant for you, it will be yours.” Thus, he said he believes that Sarah is destined to serve the people, particularly the poor and needy.

“But if she loses, she will still continue the good work she has done in Pasig,” Discaya said in an interview on Daily Tribune’s digital show Straight Talk.

“What we will do if that opportunity comes is to continue to help and extend assistance to our fellow Pasigueños because that is our true intention,” he added.

But Discaya remains hopeful his wife, Sarah, will win the mayoral race with the overwhelming support they receive from Pasigueños every time they go around the barangays.

He said he had seen how hungry Pasigueños are for the basic social services that they deserve from the government.

“If she doesn’t win — but of course we should always think positive, that’s why we must win this battle because Pasig City needs us. We want to give what is rightfully due to Pasigueños,” he said.

For Curlee, success is not defined by every victory, it is measured by the impact you brought to the people to change their lives.

“For us, even we lose, we would still win in our own way because that is really our intention — to help in a wider way,” he said.

“We will continue that because you don’t have to be a politician to help people,” he added.

Curlee, a poor boy who worked as a janitor at a Catholic church in Pasig City while studying college with the help of the priests, believes that the Lord is using them to help the poor and the needy.

“Maybe the Lord wants Ate Sarah to enter politics so that she cannot only help but help the people in a very big and wide way,” Curlee said.

Curlee said that they will never seek reimbursement for the expenses they incurred in the medical missions and other social services, including financial assistance, they have provided to Pasigueños.

He and his wife, Sarah, have been involved in many charitable works as part of their company’s corporate social responsibility, focusing primarily on healthcare, education and livelihood.

“It’s not true that we will take that back because we have already taken back with the blessings that flow to us,” Curlee said.

“Ate Sarah only wants to serve our fellow Pasigueños. If her real intention is to get rich even more, she will not run for mayor, but instead focus on widening our market all over the country if she really wants to become more rich,” he added.

“Maybe the Lord wants that you have to sacrifice a large part of your life so that you can serve other people. Maybe the Lord uses us to lift you up in such a state of life.”

Curlee said Sarah should not be compared to other politicians who make empty promises during elections. With the experience and expertise that they have in the field of infrastructure, Curlee assured that Sarah will fulfill all her campaign promises if she becomes the next mayor of Pasig City.
