NGCP is set to complete the P8.1-billion Tuy–Dasmariñas 500 kV Transmission Line by the fourth quarter of the year–a development that would strengthen South Luzon's power backbone and accommodate rising energy demand.
“One big project (set for completion) is the Tuy–Dasmariñas 500 kV Transmission Line.
This is in South Luzon and is for completion this year. It's a major transmission point and will be complete in the fourth quarter,” NGCP assistant vice president and head of the transmission planning department Redi Allan Remoroza told reporters on Wednesday.
Spanning 49 kilometers, the double-circuit overhead line will initially operate at 230 kV, linking Batangas to Cavite. A new substation in Tuy, Batangas, will also rise to support an influx of 5,215.55 megawatts in the proposed generation capacity near Calaca, Batangas.
The project, which secured ERC approval in October 2024, is expected to enhance grid reliability and facilitate more renewable energy integration in the region.
Batangas has become one of the generation hubs for large renewable energy plants such as solar and wind plants due to the increasing demand in Metro Manila and the development of Southern Luzon.
