As global attention shifts toward sustainability, the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) is leading the charge by highlighting green investment opportunities. On 27 February 2025, industry leaders, government officials, and financial experts will gather at Flat Planet Workspace for the Chamber’s latest Trade & Connect forum, Navigating the Future: Unlocking Sustainable and Green Investment Opportunities.
With the Philippine economy on an upward trajectory and the government strengthening its sustainability commitments, the event aims to spark discussions on the future of green investments. The country's Php 4.54 trillion in project approvals under the Board of Investments (BOI) and the Green Lane initiative under Executive Order No. 18 are positioning the Philippines as an attractive destination for international investors focused on sustainable ventures.
The forum will open with a keynote address from a Department of Energy representative, highlighting the nation’s ambitious renewable energy targets. The Philippines is working toward tripling its renewable energy capacity by 2030, a major step to attract foreign investments and enhance energy security. The Department of Finance will also share insights on how businesses can tap into ESG-aligned investments to promote long-term sustainability and financial growth.
BCCP Executive Chairman Chris Nelson emphasized the country’s renewable energy potential, stating, “The Philippines does need energy, particularly in renewables. If I recall correctly, there's a commitment to be at 35% renewable energy by 2030 and then it goes up.”
This forum builds on discussions from a recent forecasting event, where renewable energy, infrastructure, and ESG financing emerged as key sectors for future investments. The Philippines' drive to attract foreign investors aligns with global trends focused on sustainability and economic resilience. With the United Kingdom being a leader in renewable energy investments, the event offers a platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange between Filipino and British stakeholders.
The BCCP invites business leaders, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to join this vital discussion. Attendees will gain valuable insights into emerging green technologies, investment trends, and policy developments shaping the future of sustainability in the Philippines.
As the global economy moves toward a greener future, events like this highlight the importance of collaboration, innovation, and shared responsibility in advancing sustainable economic growth.
