Chavez resigns as PCO acting chief, cites shortcomings
Cesar Chavez announced his irrevocable resignation as acting chief of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), effective 28 February 2025, or earlier if a replacement is appointed. He submitted his resignation to President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on 5 February, stating that while he remains a supporter of the administration, he believes he has fallen short of expectations.
Chavez did not specify the exact reasons for his resignation but expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve. He revealed that former journalist Jay Ruiz will succeed him as PCO head, starting his transition on 24 February. Chavez, who previously served as Undersecretary for Railways at the Department of Transportation, was appointed PCO acting secretary in September 2024, replacing Cheloy Garafil.
