Former Miss Universe 2013 Third Runner-Up Ariella Arida has been officially named the new Miss Universe Philippines National Director, succeeding Shamcey Supsup-Lee, who held the position for four years.

The announcement was made on Saturday during the presentation of the 69 official candidates for this year’s Miss Universe Philippines competition.

In an interview, Arida expressed her gratitude to the Miss Universe Philippines Organization and its leadership, particularly Jonas Gaffud, for entrusting her with the position.

“I would like to express my utmost gratitude to Jonas Gaffud for this huge trust. This is a massive opportunity within the Miss Universe Philippines Organization. To all the staff and directors, thank you for believing in me. I know this is a big role to take on.”

While acknowledging the challenges of her new position, Arida is excited to lead and mentor the next generation of beauty queens.

“It’s a big responsibility, but I know the whole team will be here for me, supporting me. I’m super excited.”

When asked about her goals as the new national director, Arida confidently set her sights on securing the Philippines’ fifth Miss Universe crown.

“Hopefully, we will finally win our fifth Miss Universe crown with this batch.”

The Philippines remains a powerhouse in international pageantry, having produced four Miss Universe winners: Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Catriona Gray (2018).

With Arida now leading the organization, pageant fans eagerly anticipate the future of Miss Universe Philippines and the country’s bid for another historic win.
