Thirty-four emerging designers from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde recently showcased their designs in their annual graduation collection fashion event and exhibition of Benilde’s Fashion Design and Merchandising students entitled “Sinulid” (which means thread). The annual presentation was refreshing and inspiring display of thriving creativity while imagination takes you for a spin with tomorrow’s fashion. The range of styles and look seemed like an endless and fascinating exercise in experimentation a showcase of worlds from each aspiring talent.

“Sinulid” is more than its literal context because dreams are sewn to create realities. For a student it’s a celebration individuality, self-expression and point of view. Collectively, it’s a testament to the journey of a diverse group of aspiring designers. Despite their diversity, they are one big tapestry united and connected through personal narratives. Each collection reflects their experiences as designers, makers and individuals, shaped by the uniqueness of their stories.

“Sinulid” reflects the evolving role of fashion as a medium for social commentary and personal expression. It challenges the audiences to rethink the impact of clothing beyond being just a piece of garment.

The teaching methodology behind “Sinulid” encourages students to take a hands-on approach, full engagement in every stage of the design process from research and ideation to execution and presentation. It fosters creative independence, develop distinct design philosophies and emphasizes real-world application as they trust their creativeinstincts.

Congratulations to the promising graduates and may you continue threading worthwhile experiences and share them to the world! Mabuhay kayo!

Sinulid runs until 24 May at 12th floor of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.
