Blacklist International owner Tryke Gutierrez is in no denial that his organization felt the effects of losing OhMyV33nus, Wise, and Edward.
Blacklist International, a three-time MPL PH champion and M3 world champion, will not compete in the upcoming MPL PH Season 15 after it sold its franchise slot to one of the two Saudi Arabia-based organizations, Team Falcons and Twisted Minds.
Before the start of MPL Season 14, Mobile Legends stars OhMyV33nus, Wise, Edward, Renejay, and Yue surprised the community when they transferred to the then-newcomer Aurora.
While Blacklist International was able to field a squad for the season, Gutierrez admits the lingering effects of losing his biggest stars.
"For us, it was a huge impact in terms of the MLBB community. It was a big deal. The names were monumental and legends in the space. Whenever we lose a star player, it is always a big deal from a marketing standpoint," Gutierrez told Daily Tribune.
"You always have to find new stars as an organization. There will be a transition, but that is just part of the cycle. But of course, that was not easy."
Despite losing the majority of its star power, two of Blacklist International's world champions, Oheb and Hadji, remained with the organization. In the end, Gutierrez says it is all about respecting his players' decisions.
"I have to respect people's decisions, I cannot control what they want. I had to respect that," Gutierrez quipped.
