Customers along the Laguna Lake shoreline in Rizal and the cities of Taguig, Pateros and Pasig can expect improved water services by the third quarter of 2025 as Manila Water’s East Bay Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant (WTP) nears completion.
The Razon-led water firm confirmed on Monday that the 200 million-liter-per-day (MLD) facility, designed to serve around 2.08 million customers, is on track for completion.
“As the East Bay Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant is taking shape, we are also constantly improving and expanding our network distribution. That is why we greatly appreciate our partner local government units in Rizal for assisting us in our construction activities,” Manila Water Communication Affairs Group Director Jeric Sevilla said.
The P7.84-billion project will enhance the water supply in the region, reduce reliance on the Angat water system, and sustain Metro Manila’s water services, particularly during the dry season.
Situated in Brgy. Kabulusan, Pakil, Laguna, the treatment plant will be connected to a transmission pipeline traversing local roads in Pakil and Jalajala.
It will follow the nautical highway of Central Bay Laguna Lake, cross Binangonan-Cardona, and extend along the shoreline of West Bay Laguna Lake.
As of December 2024, the East Bay PH2 WTP is 65.41 percent complete. Manila Water’s project team, with support from local governments and private contractors, is diligently working to meet its target completion date by the third quarter of 2025.
