The Philippine government yesterday assured the public that a case will be filed against Mitja Kocjančič, the Slovenian man who allegedly killed his Filipina wife, Marvil Facturan.
Facturan’s remains arrived in Cebu last Saturday, 25 January. Her mother received her remains in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, via a roll-on/roll-off ferry.
Philippine Ambassador to Austria Evangelina Lourdes Bernas said that Slovenian authorities are finalizing the autopsy report on Facturan, hinting that a case may be formally filed soon against the mam.
Bernas noted that the incident has deeply shocked Slovenian authorities, as such cases are rare in the country.
“Slovenian authorities have ensured that the accused remains in custody,” Bernars said.
According to the Commission on Filipinos Overseas, Facturan left the Philippines on a tourist visa.
