  • The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) recorded 35,927 violations across the Ilocos Region in August as it intensified the implementation of its Safer Cities initiatives aimed at maintaining public order and safety.

PRO1 said 31,509 violators were fined while 4,418 others were warned and released during enforcement operations from August 1 to 31, 2026. The operations generated P15,909,721 in fines.

The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office recorded the highest number of violations with 14,899, followed by Ilocos Sur with 7,926, La Union with 6,660, Ilocos Norte with 5,811, and Dagupan City with 631.

Traffic-related offenses accounted for the bulk of the violations, with 29,001 cases involving provincial, city, and municipal traffic ordinances. Police also recorded 3,219 other violations, 2,104 cases of drinking and smoking in public places, 912 cases involving minors violating curfew hours, 663 instances of individuals roaming the streets without shirts, and 28 cases of karaoke use beyond permitted hours.

Newly installed PRO1 Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Crisaleo R. Tolentino said the campaign highlights the importance of preventive policing and stronger cooperation between law enforcement and communities.

“As I lead PRO1, we will intensify our continuing effort and strengthen our partnership with the community in the implementation of the existing laws and ordinances, foster responsible citizenship and public discipline, and ensure a safer environment for both residents and visitors in the region, aligning our efforts to the Chief’s PNP-focused agenda,” Tolentino said.

PRO1 said the Safer Cities initiatives will continue to focus on enforcing existing laws and local ordinances while promoting public discipline and community safety throughout the region.
