Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal are reuniting, 35 years after the release of their beloved romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally. The pair teased an upcoming project on Instagram on Thursday, 23 January, hinting at "something iconic" on the way.

“It’s finally happening, we’re reuniting for something iconic. Can’t wait to show you all soon,” Ryan captioned the Instagram post.

The photo features the duo seated side-by-side on a plush couch against an ornate, patterned wallpaper, recreating the look of the iconic "couples interview" scenes from the 1989 classic. Crystal is even dressed in his character Harry Burns' recognizable white sweater.

While details about the reunion remain under wraps, fans speculate that the teaser could be for a sequel, a reboot, or a commercial set to debut during the highly anticipated Super Bowl on 9 February. Brands frequently use the Super Bowl stage to unveil high-profile collaborations and several celebrity-partnered ads have already been teased for this year's event.

Directed by Rob Reiner and written by the late Nora Ephron, When Harry Met Sally follows the story of Harry Burns and Sally Albright, two college graduates who debate whether men and women can remain just friends. Through years of chance encounters, the pair discover the answer as their connection deepens into something more.

The film became an enduring favorite, celebrated for its witty dialogue, memorable moments like the “I’ll have what she’s having” scene, and the chemistry between its leads. Ryan and Crystal earned critical acclaim, with Ryan receiving a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress and Crystal earning a nod for Best Actor.

Fans of the film have expressed excitement in the comments of Ryan's post, with many hoping for a sequel or a special event to mark the anniversary of the film’s release.

This reunion isn’t the first for the duo, who previously celebrated the film’s 30th anniversary at the Turner Classic Movies Festival in 2019. During the event, they reflected on the film’s legacy and the reasons behind its enduring popularity.

Crystal recently spoke about the movie’s lasting impact in an interview with People magazine, saying, “As new generations see this movie and watch it over and over on Valentine’s Day or New Year’s Eve, it’s an evergreen. People fall in love every day, and this movie captures that beautifully.”

While fans wait for further details about the project, the teaser has already sparked nostalgia and excitement, proving that When Harry Met Sally remains as cherished today as it was in 1989.
