Authorities reported on Thursday that a delivery van making a U-turn on a busy road in Chinatown, Binondo, Manila severely hit a mentally ill woman last Wednesday night.

Police from the Vehicular Traffic Investigation Section of the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (VTIS-MDTEU) identified the victim as Evelyn Samalya, who was allegedly suffering from a mental illness.

The aluminum van, bearing plate number NGG 1942, was driven by Alexander Onod of Valenzuela City and investigations showed that the incident occurred at about 6:15 p.m. on 22 January 2025, along westbound Ronquillo Street at the roundabout of Plaza Santa Cruz, Binondo, Manila.
