7 Cebu areas among Top 10 child-friendly

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) revealed on Tuesday, that seven Cebu cities and municipalities were among the top 10 areas granted the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) for 2023.
Topping the list is the northern town of Sogod with 97.11 percent rating, followed by Catmon with 95.79 percent.
In third spot was the City of Lapu-Lapu with 95.17 percent and fourth was Talisay City with 94.50 percent.
Fifth is Carcar City with 94.33 percent, while sixth place went to Calape town, Bohol with 94 percent and seventh is Tudela in Camotes with 93 .73 percent.
In eighth spot was Balamban with 93.50 percent, Loay, Bohol and Santander with 93 percent rating.
According to DILG, there were 895 cities and municipalities that had passed the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit and received the awards.
This was thoroughly reviewed by the National Inter-Agency Monitoring Task Force and Council for the Welfare and Children from July 29 to August 2024.

“It aims to inform and influence the planning and programming of LGUs towards achieving the envisioned goal where children are accessing inclusive social services and lives free of poverty in all dimensions by putting primacy on child-rights responsive governance and accountability,” the DILG said.
