The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has reiterated its call for beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) to join the Social Security System (SSS) and avail of its social insurance benefits.
During the 17th episode of the DSWD’s online program “4Ps Fastbreak” on Wednesday, Marie Grace Ponce, chief of the 4Ps Social Marketing Division, stressed the advantages of the “AlkanSSSya Program.”
“Through the AlkanSSSya Program, we encourage our beneficiaries to save and contribute to their SSS accounts, as this social insurance will provide them with assistance in case of sickness, childbirth, burial and other contingencies,” Ponce said.
In July 2024, the DSWD and the SSS signed a memorandum of agreement to create a contribution subsidy table specifically designed for 4Ps beneficiaries.
This table, based on an actuarial study conducted by the SSS, considers the beneficiaries’ actual ability to pay the minimum monthly contribution of P570.
Beneficiaries will be responsible for paying their own SSS monthly premiums.
The partnership will also cover 4Ps beneficiaries who are members of workers’ associations, informal sector groups and Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations.
“We want to ensure that they sustain the positive changes they have achieved through the program and prevent them from falling back into poverty,” Ponce said.
