The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has launched new Express Mail Service (EMS) hubs in Metro Manila to enhance domestic and international mail deliveries.
The new hubs, located in Manila, Quezon City, Makati, and Pasay City’s Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC), aim to improve service efficiency across the National Capital Region (NCR).
The move comes as PHLPost seeks to optimize its EMS operations, which are currently centered at the CMEC in Pasay City. Starting 13 January, EMS personnel and couriers will operate from the newly established hubs in Manila, Makati, and Quezon City, significantly reducing delivery times in these areas. The Quezon City hub has been operational since November 2024.
PHLPost said the shift to multiple hubs will provide customers with faster, more convenient service and better access to EMS facilities. The new system will also allow undelivered items to be held for seven days, giving customers additional time to request redelivery or pick up parcels locally.
The four EMS hubs will cover specific NCR regions:
Quezon City Hub - Serving Caloocan, Malabon, Marikina, Navotas, Novaliches, Quezon City, and Valenzuela.
CMEC Pasay Hub - Handling deliveries in Pasay, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Parañaque, and Taguig.
Makati Hub - Covering Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, and Pateros.
Manila Hub - Serving Manila and San Juan.
Domestic express mail sent after the cut-off times will be delivered within 48 hours, with specific cut-off times for various NCR post offices. For instance, post offices in Caloocan, Valenzuela, and other areas have a 2:00 PM cut-off, while offices in central locations like Makati and Manila have a 3:30 PM cut-off.
PHLPost's Domestic Express Mail Service (DEMS) offers next-day delivery for urgent items sent within the Philippines, provided they are mailed before the cut-off. For international shipments, PHLPost is leveraging its membership in the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and agreements with 56 countries to facilitate faster global delivery.
The expansion of these EMS hubs is expected to improve PHLPost's competitiveness in the growing logistics and e-commerce sectors.
