The case of Cake Joyce Magday, a Riyadh-based overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who sought the assistance of Daily Tribune’s Usapang OFW on 9 January, is currently being processed, according to her Philippine recruitment agency.
Magday had complained about her extended work hours without proper meals which caused her severe headaches, body pain and weakness.
In an interview, Top High Global Resources Inc., her recruitment agency in the Philippines, said it had filed her complaint with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
Top High also denied that Magday did not attend the mandatory pre-departure orientation seminar (PDOS).
“She attended the PDOS at OWWA, and we even conducted a briefing ourselves. It is not true that she was not oriented; there are certificates to prove this,” said the office supervisor of Top High who was not identified.
The PDOS is a required seminar for departing migrant workers that provides essential information for their overseas employment.
Top High said they had contacted Magday’s parents who said they were willing to pay for her return flight.
