The National Peace Rally organized by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) at the South Road Properties (SRP) in Cebu City on Tuesday was peaceful and orderly, according to a police report.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Theresa Macatangay, Deputy City Director for Operations of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said INC members from various areas in Central Visayas began arriving at the venue as early as 7 a.m. By 11 a.m., an estimated 45,000 attendees had gathered, with numbers increasing later in the evening.
The rally showed support for President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s stance against the impeachment case filed against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Macatangay noted there were no significant disruptions during the rally, as the INC had pledged to monitor and maintain discipline among its members.
Cebu Gubernatorial candidate Pamela Baricuatro, who is also the Cebu convenor of Hakbang ng Maisug, was seen at the rally. Baricuatro told the DAILY TRIBUNE that the push to impeach Duterte would further divide the Filipino people, emphasizing the need to focus on addressing poverty and government corruption.
