The Department of Health (DOH) warned the public against a fake social media post claiming that individuals are conducting blood sugar tests using needles contaminated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
The post alleges that members of a supposed "Faculty of Medicine" are going door-to-door offering blood sugar tests.
“The post claims that the needles used to inject are allegedly contaminated with HIV,” the DOH said in an advisory on Sunday.
“The Philippine National Police has also debunked this message, confirming that it is a scare tactic with no factual basis,” it added.
The Health department urged the public not to share unverified claims that could cause unnecessary alarm and advised sourcing information only from legitimate sources such as the DOH and its official social media pages.
