
MORONG, Bataan — As the 150-day election period began Sunday, police here headed by Capt. Carlito A. Buco Jr., chief of police, held three persons in a checkpoint for illegally possessing gun, bullets and illegal drugs in Barangay Sabang, this town.
In his report to Col. Palmer Tria, police director, Capt. Buco identified the suspects as One Alyas Pango, a minor for violation of RA 4136, RA 10054, RA10591 and Omnibus Election Code; James Laranang and Jealette Egliane for violation of RA 4136, RA 10054, and Section 11 of RA 9165.
Comelec Commissioner Aimee Ferolino, head of the Comelec Steering Committee for the May polls, said that as of 12 January, 1,131 permits or gun ban exemptions have been issued to individuals and entities.
Buco said that as his men were manning a Comelec checkpoint, they noticed two motorcycles approaching wherein the riders were not wearing helmet.
Due to initial violation, Buco said they flagged them down and requested to show their driver’s license and documents of their motorcycles for verification.
Alyas Pango opened the compartment of his driven Suzuki Smash motorcycle and in plain view, the PNP personnel spotted a revolver pistol inside.
Buco said they then all apprehended persons after they were subjected to preventive search after discovering from the possession of James Laranang (on board a Suzuki Raider Motorcycle) was one heat sealed plastic sachet containing shabu with estimated weight of 0.31 and also one small plastic sachet containing suspected shabu from Jeallete Egliane (backrider of Suzuki Raider Motorcycle) with estimated weight of 0.29,
while the caliber .38 revolver with three live bullets was recovered from Pango.
A shabu with market value of P4,080 was seized and will be submitted to Bataan PFU for forensic examination.
