The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) is leaving no stone unturned in coming up with an all-out preparation for the country’s hosting of the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship.
Stakeholders, the national government and sponsors are working hand in hand to ensure that the prestigious volleyball tournament featuring the world’s best squads slated from 12 to 28 September will be a resounding success.
PNVF leadership said preparations “are moving forward with the help of stakeholders and sponsors” following an inter-agency meeting with government and private stakeholders Friday afternoon at its headquarters in Taguig.
Present were Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, Philippine Sports Commission chairman Richard Bachmann and sports patron Manny Pangilinan of the MVP Group of Companies.
Pangilinan expressed confidence that the World Championship will be as successful as the Philippines’ hosting the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
“This is reminiscent of the preparations we made for the FIBA World Cup but this time it’s 32 countries so double the number of the participating countries,” said Pangilinan, who is also the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas chairman emeritus.
“It’s bigger, hopefully, in the participation of countries and tourist arrivals. We’re pleased to partner with the government in this effort.”
Bachmann echoed the same sentiment.
“It’s the same people involved in the FIBA World Cup hosting, from the private sector to the government, legislators and NSAs so we’re confident that this hosting will also be a great success,” he said.
Meanwhile, as part of its buildup for the World Championship, Alas Pilipinas will have a series of training camps abroad.
The PNVF is looking to send the nationals to Japan as well as stops in Portugal, Spain and Italy.
