NCR logs 10% drop in crime incidents in Dec 2024

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Thursday touted the decline of crime incidents in Metro Manila, which dropped by 10.62 percent in December compared to November.

In a statement, NCRPO acting Director PBGen. Anthony Aberin the total number of crimes was downed from 9,227 incidents in December to 10,323 in November.

While the eight focus crimes decreased by 11.94 percent, from 469 incidents in November to 413 in December. 

“These improvements showcase NCRPO's effective implementation of crime prevention strategies and proactive measures to address public safety concerns,” Aberin said. 

He also noted the NCRPO maintained high efficiency in addressing crimes. 

This as the crime clearance efficiency slightly decreased from 99.56 percent in November to 98.86 percent in December, while crime solution efficiency remained stable, with a slight decline from 96.36 percent in November to 96.03 percent in December. 

“These results underscore NCRPO’s swift and effective approach to resolving cases and delivering justice, further solidifying public trust and confidence,” he added. 

The NCRPO comprises five districts: the Manila Police District (MPD), the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the Northern Police District (NPD), the Eastern Police District (EPD), and the Southern Police District (SPD).

In the same period, the NCRPO intensified its campaign against wanted individuals and arrested 1,248 suspects, including 548 of the most wanted persons and 613 other wanted criminals. 

It also conducted 761 operations, leading to the arrest of 1,120 individuals, and confiscated drugs included  9,122 grams of shabu and 5,868.43 grams of marijuana, alongside other drug paraphernalia with a total standard drug price of P63,838,276.60. 

In preparation for the 2025 National and Local Elections, the NCRPO executed some 198 operations to address gun-related crimes in December leading to the arrest of 202 individuals and confiscation of 212 firearms. 

NCRPO conducted 900 operations against the anti-illegal gambling campaign, leading to the arrest of  2,272 violators and the confiscation of P554,874.50 in gambling-related assets.

It likewise enforced local ordinances resulting in the apprehension of 6,232,135 violators resulting in the collection of an impressive P3,256,096,143.00 in fines as penalties. 

“Every arrest and every case resolved are steps towards building trust and fostering collaboration between the police and the people we serve. Let us continue this momentum in 2025 and together with the community, let us make Metro Manila a safe and secure place for all,” Aberin said.
