Local government units began cleaning up tons of garbage left behind by New Year’s Eve revelers on Wednesday morning.
Reports showed that four trucks of garbage collected from a portion of Taft Avenue in Libertad, Pasay City, just hours after the midnight countdown. The closed part of the road was reopened at around 7 a.m.
Similar scenes unfolded along Recto Avenue in Manila and Rizal Avenue in Caloocan City. In the Divisoria retail district, tall piles of vegetable and fruit waste lined the streets.
To address the situation, the Manila City Hall Department of Public Services conducted sanitation services early Wednesday.
Meanwhile, proper garbage disposal was observed during the New Year’s Eve Countdown at Quezon City Circle, facilitating a faster cleanup.
