Tennis ace Alex Eala booked a spot in the main draw of the Workday Canberra International women’s singles after beating home bet Alana Subasic, 5-7, 6-0, 6-1, on Monday at the Canberra Tennis Centre in Australia.
It took one hour and 35 minutes for the 19-year-old netter to get the job done.
Eala previously defeated Australian tennis player Catherine Aulia, 6-1, 6-2, in the first qualifying round last Sunday.
The two-time Asian Games bronze medalist will try to cap 2024 on a high note as she goes up against Sinja Kraus of Austria in the Round of 32 on Tuesday.
It took one hour and 35 minutes for the 19-year-old netter to get the job done.
Eala is also slated to join fores with Sayaka Ishii of Japan in the Round of 16 of women’s doubles on the same day as they face off against Elsa Jacquemot of France and Marina Stakusic of Canada.
Eala’s recent singles title was back in July when she won the W100 Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain while her latest doubles title was with French netter Estelle Cascino in the same tournament.
She is also poised to end 2024 within the Top 150 netters as she is in No. 148 in the latest Women’s Tennis Association rankings.
