Passenger safety ensured after runway excursion at Bacolod-Silay Airport

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) confirmed that a passenger aircraft had a brief runway excursion when it landed at Bacolod-Silay Airport on Friday.
Due to heavy rainfall that significantly reduced braking effectiveness, Philippine Airlines (PAL) Flight PR2285, traveling from Cebu, overshot Runway 03. The plane went off the runway and onto the taxiway because it could not stop within the designated runway length.
Authorities and airport personnel responded promptly to the incident, and all passengers and crew were unharmed.
To allow for a thorough runway assessment and as a precaution, PAL canceled Flight PR2286, which was scheduled to depart from Bacolod to Mactan (Cebu). Affected passengers were promptly informed and given the option to reschedule or make alternative travel arrangements.
CAAP remains committed to passenger safety and has initiated a thorough investigation to assess the situation and prevent similar incidents in the future.
