A law student of the University of the Philippines ranks first in the 2024 bar exams. 

This as the Supreme Court of the Philippines on Friday announced that there were nearly 4,000 new lawyers, after passing the September 2024 Bar Examinations.

SC Justice and 2024 Bar Exam Chairman Mario Lopez said that out of 10,502 takers of the bar exams, there are 3,962 new lawyers (37.84 percent), all hurdling the passing grade threshold of 74 percent.

Lopez said he and the SC justices agreed in a session to adapt the grade of 74 as the passing grade for these board exams.

He said this is the result of the high passing percentage. 

On the other hand, the Top 10 passers of the Bar Examinations are as follows:

Gerald Roxas – Angeles University Foundation School of Law (84.355 percent)

John Philippe Chua – University of the Philippines (84.28 percent)

Jet Ryan Nicolas – University of the Philippines (84.265 percent)

Maria Lovelyn Joyce Quebrar – University of the Philippines (84.06 percent)

Kyle Andrew Isaguirre – Ateneo de Manila University (83.905 percent)

Joji Macadine – University of Mindanao (84.745 percent)

Gregorio Jose Torres II – Western Mindanao State University (83.59 percent)

Raya Villacorta – San Beda University (83.47 percent)
