Senatorial aspirant Luis “Manong Chavit” Singson, who is #58 on the ballot, engaged with media and local leaders during a series of campaign events in Manila, highlighting his track record and discussing his legislative priorities.
Singson began at the Manila Hotel, attending a PHILRECA gathering where he acknowledged the group’s work and joined in its Christmas activities. He also met with members of the media, outlining his proposals and emphasizing the importance of continued public service.
Later that day, he met with presidents of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) at the Diamond Hotel. As the LMP’s president emeritus, Singson reaffirmed his support for the organization.
LMP President JP Bernos gave him a ringing endorsement, declaring, "Manong Chavit is a very generous and respected member of our council. We will support his bid as senator until he wins."
That evening, Singson attended the Christmas party of the Circulation Management Association of the Philippines (CMAP), where he donated ₱500,000 to the event in a bid to spread holiday cheer and strengthen camaraderie within the media community.
The following day, 12 December, Manong Chavit traveled to Candaba, Pampanga, to host a Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) financial assistance distribution event in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Hundreds of Candabeños gathered at the Municipal Action Center to receive assistance through the cash-for-work program. Candaba Mayor Rene Maglaque and other local officials expressed their strong support for Singson’s senatorial bid.
"Tiwala ng mga presidente ay hindi natin matawaran. Ang ginawa niya sa Ilocos Sur ay gagawin niya sa buong Pilipinas," said Candaba Mayor Rene Maglanque.
(The presidents' trust [in Manong Chavit] is unwavering. What he did for Ilocos Sur he will do for the nation.)
Singson used the opportunity to discuss key initiatives such as VBank, a digital banking platform, and his advocacy for electric vehicles to encourage sustainable transportation. He also highlighted the Chavit 500 program, designed to assist lower-income groups and MSMEs nationwide.
Singson is advocating for unbanked and underbanked Filipinos through VBank, which will offer secure and accessible banking services. By providing affordable micro-loans, simplified money transfers, and convenient savings options, he aims to empower marginalized communities previously excluded from the traditional banking system.
Concluding the event, Singson shared a message with attendees: “Ang serbisyong tulad ng TUPAD ay bahagi ng ating pangarap na magdala ng progreso at ginhawa sa bawat Pilipino.”
(Services like TUPAD are part of our aspirations of bringing progress and relief to each Filipino.)
As the campaign progresses, Singson’s blend of experience, policy proposals, and grassroots engagement continues to resonate with voters across the country.
