Over 5K election bets register their socmed accounts — Comelec

Over 5,000 election bets for next year midterm polls registered their social media accounts and pages, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported on Monday.

As of Monday afternoon, 9 December, the Comelec had received 5,195 registrations via Google Forms,

Of the figure, 32 are senatorial aspirants and 5,028 are local election hopefuls.

Meanwhile, 135 party-list groups, organizations, and coalitions submitted their social media registrations.

According to the poll body, the number of registration forms it received via Google Forms exclude private individuals and entities.

On the other hand, there are 2,709 aspirants who transmitted hard copies of documents to Comelec.

For the upcoming National and Local Elections and Bangsamoro Parliamentary polls, the Comelec required the registration of official social media accounts and pages, websites, podcasts, blogs, vlogs, and other online and internet-based campaign platforms that candidates and political parties will use, as well as their campaign teams.

The Comelec has set 13 December as the deadline for registration.

The weeklong filing of certificates of candidacy was conducted from 1 to 8 October, concluding with 183 senatorial aspirants and 156 party-list groups filing their certification of nomination and acceptance.
