Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has launched the Next Generation Tamaraw, an updated version of the iconic vehicle designed for the evolving needs of Filipinos. The simultaneous unveiling across eight locations (Makati, Quezon City, Cebu, Davao, Pampanga, Pasay, Laguna, and Cagayan de Oro City) highlighted the Tamaraw’s versatility and significance in the country’s mobility landscape.

Built on Toyota’s global IMV platform and manufactured locally at its Santa Rosa, Laguna plant, the Tamaraw aims to meet the demands of modern enterprises and personal use while staying true to its heritage of durability and reliability.

Modern features for evolving needs

The Next Generation Tamaraw offers diesel and gas engine variants with multiple configurations to suit a wide range of needs.

“We sat down and communicated with potential customers to ask what they look for in the Tamaraw. Hearing their comments and requests face-to-face regarding our vehicles inspired and reminded me and our team to make ever-better cars,” shared TMP President Masando Hashimoto during the grand launch.

Among the featured long-wheelbase (LWB) models are the Dropside, Utility Van, and Aluminum Cargo, all set for retail in early 2025. These options cater to commercial and personal applications, with each variant designed for specific uses:

  • Utility Van: Offers a spacious interior with foldable seats and built-in rear air conditioning, ideal for transporting passengers or cargo.

  • Dropside: Features a large deck space and three-panel access for easy loading and unloading.

  • Aluminum Cargo: Designed for both wet and dry goods, with durable aluminum panels for added reliability.

Future conversions include ambulances, patrol vans, refrigerated vans, food trucks, and camper RVs, showcasing TMP’s commitment to meeting diverse customer needs.

“The possibilities for this vehicle are truly endless. These possibilities, which will have a lasting effect on the lives of Filipinos now and in the future, is what we envision in our tagline, Abante, Posible,” added Hashimoto.

Competitive pricing

The Tamaraw starts at P937,000 for the 2.4 Dropside DSL M/T LWB, while the gas-powered SWB variant is set to launch below P800,000. The top-tier 2.4 GL Dropside DSL A/T LWB is priced at P1,075,000, featuring advanced safety options like airbags and Anti-lock Brake System (ABS).

To make the Tamaraw accessible, TMP has partnered with Toyota Financial Services Philippines, offering flexible financing options, including low down payments and weekly payment schemes.

Maintenance will also be a breeze with a fixed service discount voucher of PHP 1,200 for every Periodic Maintenance Service (PMS) up until the 40,000 KM check-up. In addition to providing special conversions, TMSPH also provides additional solutions such as the On-Demand Shuttle System, Logistics Matching Service, and more to cater to different business’ needs.

Designed for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), local governments, and logistics providers, the Tamaraw addresses the growing demand for reliable and versatile commercial vehicles. TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations Danny Cruz emphasized the vehicle’s flexibility during the launch, stating, “The Tamaraw transforms into the body style best suited for your needs. It’s built for both business and personal use.”

A vision for mobility

TMP First Vice President for Vehicles Sales Operations Danny Cruz shared, "We want to cover every customer journey touchpoint, from purchase, to conversion, and all the way to maintenance. With this total package, we aim to make the customer experience hassle-free so our customers can focus on advancing toward their dreams."
