The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) held the “3rd Workshop for Technical and Business Cooperation on Road Construction and Operation and Maintenance” last Friday at the Diamond Hotel in Manila.
Ambassador ENDO Kazuya welcomed the participants of the workshop, together with DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan and MLIT Assistant Vice-Minister HASHIMOTO Masamichi.
During the seminar, a series of presentations and booth exhibits focused on road construction, as well as operation and maintenance (O&M), were conducted. Participants included representatives from government agencies and the private sector from both Japan and the Philippines.
Together with the seminar, a celebration ceremony was held to honor Secretary Bonoan for receiving the 2024 International Lifetime Contribution Award from the Japan Society of Civil Engineer. Ambassador ENDO extended his congratulations to Secretary Bonoan for this prestigious recognition.
The award highlighted Bonoan’s contribution to the development of infrastructure in the Philippines and his commitment to strengthening the cooperation and friendship between Japan and the Philippines through technical and cultural exchanges.
