The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Thursday that it has received nearly 4,000 social media registrations for the 2025 midterm elections.
As of Wednesday afternoon, 4 December, the poll body has received 3,904 registration forms via Google Forms. Of the number, 24 are senatorial aspirants, 3,775 are local aspirants, and 105 are party-list groups, organizations, and coalitions.
The Comelec said the figures exclude private individuals and entities. Meanwhile, 2,096 aspirants also transmitted their registrations via hard copy documents. A total of 53 private individuals also transmitted their hard copies of documents.
For the upcoming National and Local Elections and Bangsamoro Parliamentary polls, the Comelec required the registration of official social media accounts and pages, websites, podcasts, blogs, vlogs, and other online and internet-based campaign platforms that candidates and political parties will use, as well as their campaign teams.
The Comelec has set 13 December as the deadline for registration.
The weeklong filing of certificates of candidacy was conducted from 1 to 8 October, concluding with 183 senatorial aspirants and 156 party-list groups filing their certification of nomination and acceptance.
