Filipino-owned chain of restaurants famous for its “crispy pata” and “sisig” recipes, Gerry’s has recently made around 100 less fortunate children in two barangay in Quezon City happy and plans to target more communities to benefit for making children’s Christmas merry every year.

The kids from various families at the said barangay received loot bags, experienced fun games, and devoured luscious treats from Gerry’s restaurant last 16 November.

“We have started this since 2010. Every Christmas, we do have a Christmas party activity for the children. We started this in Sto. Cristo Parish with only 20 kids. It is now a yearly event. We have games and gave loot bags and food because we are Gerry’s,” said Gerry’s vice president for Human Resources and Administration Joanne Lopez in an interview.

Lopez said every year, the number of kids beneficiaries increases.

“In 2019, we also started sponsoring a Christmas Party with the National Children’s Medical Center cancer patients ward. About 100 kids with cancer celebrated a happy Christmas party. This continues. It’s our way of giving back to the community. We want these kids to feel the happiness they deserve even if they are suffering from cancer,” she said.

Another batch of 100 kids from Holy Family Parish Church in Barangay Roxas, QC will be sponsored by the said restaurant chain.

“This is part of the corporate social responsibility. We sponsor children’s activities and feeding programs. (Definitely), we will continue and will expand this in the coming years,” according to Lopez.

In 2022, Gerry’s owner Gerry Apolinario announced the transformation of Gerry’s from its previous girl and boy’s night-out place into a family-oriented restaurant.

The restaurant has been in the business since 1997 and began expansion globally in 2010, with a total of 106 branches locally and abroad.

After its rebranding, Gerry’s has been a favorite place not just for hangouts but for reunions, and gatherings because of their authentic Filipino dishes and mouth-watering desserts.
