On the wide screen up the stage, the word "Connected" was written. But only after the anticipation inside the spacious, well-lit Third Greenmeadows Clubhouse subsided that it finally made sense.

Legado Motor Inc., which distributes Dongfeng passenger cars, and Diamond Auto Group EV Corp., which brings to the country the brand's commercial vehicles, have forged a partnership.

The word "Connected" finally made a connection, so to speak.

The agreement was struck Thursday in what is described as a "strategic move which aims to improve access to the innovative Dongfeng New Energy Vehicles across the Philippines."

Remember that Legado's Dongfeng cars include the fully electric Nanobox (priced P888,000) and Forthing Friday (P1.9M to P2.58M) and hybrid Aeolus Huge (P1.888).

"The cooperation showed by both Legado Motor and Diamond Auto Group signifies a groundbreaking moment in the automotive sector," said the press statement.

"Through mutual support, both entities pledge to deliver unparalleled sales and after-sales services, ensuring customers to enjoy seamless ownership experience."

The executives of both companies were there to sign the memorandum of agreement. They include president Wilbert Ang Lim, deputy CEO Brennan Lim, vice president for sales and operations Giovanni Frias for Legado; and board of director George Blaylock and president Jose Venancio Calimbahin for Diamond.

With the arrangement, Dongfeng provides access to its remarkable range of new energy commercial and passenger cars.

"Dongfeng connected presents a diverse selection of electric vehicle tailored to cater to the changing demands of the business and individuals alike," Ang Lim said.

"Customers can anticipate advantages stemming from this unique support system. This will guarantee the widespread availability of Dongfeng electric vehicles throughout the region."

The partnership also ensures improved after-sales services, promising customers "seamless ownership experience."

"With state-of-the-art service centers, expertly trained technicians and a dedication to swift and effective customer support, our priority is to ensure that customers receive unmatched assistance throughout their ownership journey."

The occasion practically launched the highly anticipated electric pick-up Rich6 True EV.

The Rich6 350 variant has an electric drivetrain. It has 161 horsepower and a 420 newton-meter torque. It has a 350km range and sells for P2.76M.

Its higher-tier variant, the Rich6 450, had an impressive 450km range and sells for P2.86M.

It hopes to set the standard for entry-level electric trucks in terms of performance, versatility and affordability.

Now they join the family of Dongfeng's EC36 eight-seater van (P1.78M), EC30 (P1.9M) and EC35 (P1.75M); light trucks EC31 (P1.68M to P1.83M), EV35 (P2.475M to P2.675M) and EV45 (P3.35M to P3.54M).

All of these plugged-in vehicles "connected" under one roof. Truly an electric deal.
