Insurgents’ firearms, war materiel seized

DAVAO CITY — The 1003rd Infantry Brigade of the 10th Infantry Division successfully seized three high-powered firearms and assorted war materiel  from the New People's Army during an armed encounter at Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Cawayan, Quezon, Bukidnon last Friday.

10ID spokesperson Maj. Mark Anthony Tito disclosed on Monday that three M16 rifles, two magazines with ammunition, eight backpacks, medical paraphernalia, food supplies, clothing, assorted war materiel and subversive documents were recovered by the soldiers after executing a focused military operation.

"The items were from the NPA's Sub-Regional Sentro De Grabidad Peddler, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee," Tito said.

Meanwhile, 10ID commander BGen. Allan Hambala reiterated his call for the remaining members of the NPA, particularly in Bukidnon province, to surrender.

"The 10ID conducts military operations through the legitimate use of force against the NPA, ensuring the safety and well-being of the people. Nevertheless, the 10ID remains open to accept members of the NPA who are willing to lay down their arms and reintegrate into the folds of the law," Hambala said.
