Filipino cager Rhenz Abando of Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters suffered fractures on his third and fourth vertebrae, a concussion, and a sprained wrist after falling flat on his back following a mid-air collision with Chinanu Onuaku, the import of Goyang Sono in the Korean Basketball League on Thursday, 28 December.

The 6"2 La Union homegrown was wheeled off on a stretcher after taking a bad fall during the 4th minute of the 2nd quarter as his team, defending champions Anyang, suffered its 5th straight loss against Goyang, 81-85.

Abando, who shone under the international spotlight with his high-flying ability during his stint with Gilas Pilipinas in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, is now recovering in a Korean hospital and is expected to miss the KBL All-Star Weekend slated on 14 January 2024.
