Filipinos hoping for a more holiday breaks will be disappointed as Malacañang on Friday said there will be no special non-working holiday declared for 2 January 2024.

"Wala po (There's none)," Communications Secretary Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil told Palace reporters when asked if the day after New Year's Day will be a holiday.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared 26 December a special non-working holiday so that people could "celebrate the holiday with their families and loved ones."

Rizal Day (30 December) and New Year's Day (1 January) are regular holidays. The last day of the year, 31 December, New Year's Eve, is a special holiday.
