Dear Editor,

Peace can only be attained if all violent extremist and terrorist organizations in this country are neutralized and eradicated, and their leaders, members, and supporters are arrested, prosecuted, jailed, or surrendered unconditionally to the government.

At present, the Philippine government is in an undisputed position of strength, and hence, it will negotiate from a position of strength.

On the other hand, the CPP-NDF-NPA, whose cause is being espoused by the Malaya Movement USA, is in NO position to make any demands as it is negotiating from a very, very, very weak position. 

For clarity and the benefit of Malaya Movement USA, so that they may understand the absurdity of their promotion of the NDFP "demands" under their notion of a so-called "peace talks."

The image here is that of a dying notorious bandit, in the throes of death, with only a few gasps of air left in him, trying to convince an able-bodied constable in the pink of health to bring him to a hospital, where the bandit can make a recovery, and subsequently, force the constable to set him free so that he can go back to being a bandit. The bandit is the CPP-NDF-NPA.

The constable is the Philippine government working as one under the NTF-ELCAC mechanism.

Malaya Movement USA must realize that we can see through your intentions.

Know that your propaganda lines, which are parroting the overused and overused propaganda lines of the CPP-NDF-NPA, do not have any impact on Filipinos anymore.

On the matter of the release of the alleged NDFP consultants, MALAYA Movement USA must have overlooked the fact that these NDFP consultants are charged before our courts with heinous crimes involving the destruction of life and property. The victims of the CPP-NDF-NPA are Filipinos, too, who deserve justice and closure.

In the pursuit of peace, the government will not surrender any of its sovereign power to any terrorist individual or organization who seeks to gain an advantage under the guise of peace.

If the CPP-NDF-NPA is sincere in its quest for peace, it can lay down its arms and surrender. Unconditionally. Then, there will be peace.

The CPP-NDF-NPA is making this whole peace process complicated and theatrical, short of being comical because they do not really want peace but a peaceful respite so that they can pursue their aim of overthrowing the Philippine government.

A strong republic always negotiates from a position of strength. The Filipino people will not give up their gains in the fight against terror.

We will not tolerate the CPP-NDF-NPA making a mockery of peace by dragging the government to peace talks that will adversely affect the gains of the government in the war against terrorism.
