LTFRB probes video showing taxi driver giving ‘airport meter rate’ to tourist

A viral video on social media showing a taxi driver handing an authorized "airport meter rate" prompted the
Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board on Monday to order an investigation and hunt down the cab driver.

LTFRB Spokesperson Celine Pialago said the LTFRB will conduct a probe into the circumstances surrounding the alleged airport meter rate provided to the tourist.

"We take such matters seriously and are committed to ensuring the integrity and fairness of taxi services. Our priority is to uphold the standards of service and protect the rights of passengers," Pialago said.

She added that LTFRB Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III is encouraging individuals who may have additional information or have experienced similar incidents to come forward and share their accounts.

"LTFRB chief is assuring the public that appropriate measures will be taken based on the findings of the investigation to uphold the accountability of taxi operators and drivers," she said.

"Chair Guadiz assures the public that the LTFRB remains dedicated to addressing any violations promptly and implementing necessary actions to maintain the quality of public transportation services," the spokesperson said.

"The LTFRB remains committed to fostering a safe, reliable, and fair transportation environment for all passengers," she ended.
