Entering the magnificent Forbes Park residence of Rudy and Boots Bacani for another delightful Christmas party with my De La Salle classmates, who have been companions for 53 years, was a joyous occasion, I could not have looked forward to an exciting evening. But I was initially shocked to see there was no one in the living room and dining room. I then thought the heavy traffic had delayed everyone.
But to my amazement, cheers soon emanated from the den where, I soon found out, my classmates were passionately watching the Lasalle vs. UP basketball finals. The jubilation escalated as Lasalle emerged victorious, with classmates chanting and later singing our alma mater song.
The night unfolded with a fantastic band playing an array of popular songs, complemented by a lavish buffet dinner generously provided by the Bacani couple. The two lechons contributed by our class further enriched the feast, and the abundance of wine and liquor brought by classmates ensured a spirited atmosphere.
As the clock approached midnight, male and female dance instructors took center stage, guiding everyone to the dance floor. The euphoria of the evening reflected the enduring bond of friendship that persisted after 53 years.
In the warmth of shared memories, laughter and camaraderie, this Christmas celebration was a testament to the timeless connection forged during our De La Salle journey. Here's to the enduring spirit of friendship, echoing through the halls of Rudy and Boots Bacani's beautiful residence.
Indeed, time has not erased the bond we shared and enjoyed in our younger days.
