ZAMBOANGA CITY — Twenty-eight local government units in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao clinched the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance Award from the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
BARMM-Ministry of Interior and Local Government Minister Atty. Sha Elijah Dumama-Alba reported on Friday that DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. and the Council of Good Local Governance presented the SGLG award to the chosen heads of the local government units at the Manila Hotel in Manila on Thursday.
Alba said the selected LGUs which bagged the SGLG also received cash incentives to assist local government thrusts and initiatives, a plaque and an SGLG mark, adding that the SGLG awardees received a P4-million incentive fund for provinces, 2.3 million for cities and 1.8 million for municipalities.
The number of awardees this year was 100 percent higher than the number of passers in 2022, with 14 LGUs, marking a significant milestone for the Bangsamoro Government.
Meantime, 13 LGUs that achieved SGLG recognition last year churned a repeat this year, demonstrating the continuation of BARMM's established culture of excellence among local governments.
