The Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) and Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) on Friday intercepted a variety of agricultural products without import permits from inbound passengers at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

A newly arrived Chinese passenger from Taipei brought 10 kilograms (kg) of atis, 13 kg of peanuts, and 40.1 kg of pomelo, which were all seized by the BPI.

The BPI also reported that the agency confiscated a kilogram of carrots, 0.5 kg of tomato, 3 kg of onion, 0.9 kg of garlic, 2 kg of apple, 2 kg of potato, 3.9 kg of orange, and 0.5 kg of cucumber brought by a pilot from Philippine Airlines (PAL).

Meanwhile, the BAI confiscated 1.1 kg of dried pork, 3.5 kg of marinated boiled eggs, chicken nuggets, and 11 kg of processed pork brought by three passengers from Xiamen and Taiwan.

These agricultural products were confiscated by the BPI and BAI from passengers who failed to provide the necessary import permits for their carried goods.
