ILOILO CITY — Thirty vegetable growers from cluster associations in various municipalities of Capiz underwent a three-day training to improve production, strengthen farm practices and increase their incomes.
The Department of Agriculture (DA) Western Visayas conducted the Package of Technology-Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) on Lowland Vegetable Production training in Roxas City to equip growers with practical knowledge on producing safe, quality vegetables while adopting sustainable and climate-resilient technologies.
Capiz Provincial High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) Coordinator Jona Buenavista urged participants to maximize the training and apply new approaches to improve farm productivity
“Your participation reflects your willingness to learn how to produce quality agricultural products while adopting sustainable and climate-resilient farming technologies,” Buenavista said.
The training covered land preparation, crop management and postharvest practices. DA-Western Visayas HVCDP Agriculturist I Paul Andrew Villeta led discussions and demonstrations to help farmers apply the techniques on their farms.
Senior Agriculturist Rene Baldivia of the DA Regulatory Division discussed GAP, focusing on proper farm management, safe use of agricultural inputs, sanitation and hygiene, proper handling of harvested products, and responsible natural resource management.
